How to Get Your Firewood, Cooking Wood and Mulch
The busy people of Edina might not have time to go for anything other than run-of-the-mill options, but we’ve made the process a lot easier. Following these three steps can provide plenty of effective firewood in a few days. Whichever cut of wood you want, we’re ready when you are.
Step 1: Choose from Different Types of Firewood, Mulch, and Cooking Wood
Any species we offer can make great cooking wood or firewood, but some species serve certain purposes the best. As the densest hardwood, oak yields the hottest and longest fires, so it’s best for heating homes. Runners up are hickory and birch. If you’re willing to shell out some extra cash, cherry and apple wood can double as flavorful incense for your home.
The densest hardwoods are also good for cooking red meat, while fruit woods are often good for providing unique hints of flavor to poultry and fish. If you’re new to wood-fire cooking, try to stay away from hickory. While hickory can provide a great flavor, the erratic, powerful fire it yields is unwieldy enough to confound newcomers, so move onto that later.
If you’re looking to spruce up your garden in the spring, our mulch comes in a few colors. Black, brown, gold and red mulch are all available. We also provide mulch without any dye at all. Each color serves a different aesthetic purpose. For example, black mulch makes your plants look more vibrant due to the way it contrasts against their color.
Step 2: Select Your Order Size
For our mostly residential customer base, we have a few popular options. A “bundle” of 5-7 logs can keep a fire going for more than an hour, though our 2’ x 4’ “mini stack” is the most popular among customers who heat their homes several times a month. For the odd commercial client, we suggest a full or half cord.
Speaking of commercial clients, if you’re looking to stock your restaurant’s firewood inventory, recall that we chop our wood into pieces that can fit into your devices. Chunks are small enough for grills and smokers, while we also provide tiny bits for outdoor pizza ovens.
We offer mulch by the cubic foot. Once you multiply the length by the width for each area you want to landscape, you’ll know how much you need. Keep in mind that your plots should be about three inches thick.
